Homeschooling on the Road-Summer School 2009

Jun 16th, 2009 | By Jessica Parnell | Category: Homeschooling Road Trip 2009, Lead Article

My husband and I decided to take our kids on a road trip this year to give them an up close look at the history and beauty of the west. We plan to cover ground from Colorado to Wyoming to Idaho to Utah to Arizona and finally California. See all of the posts about the trip here.

What will we teach? Probably not much from books, but we hope to see them learn a lot about the Oregon Trail, the western expansion, the “Wild West,” key figures in history and a lot of science.
Although I am one who always likes to add the creative to homeschooling programs, this will be the first time we have completely strayed away from textbooks and I look forward to sharing the experience with you.
So check back over the next month and I will keep you posted on what we are learning.
